3D Georgia Bulldog Cake

Good Afternoon Folks!
Boy O Boy...yes...I'm very late on updating this blog! Thanks to a few good emails, I'm finally trying to update the blog! Typically I update the Facebook Fan page and our website 1st...and the very last on the list is this poor little blog!
Recently, Funky Monkey Cakes created UGA: University of Georgia Bulldog! This cute doggy was O SO Special to create. I found myself sweet talking Uga as I was building him and seeing his features come out!
"Whata boootyful boy U are! Yes U Are! Such a good boy!"
(ummm...Iris...he can't hear you...he's a cake?) But once we built his eyes...it was all over!
UGA was built with Vanilla cake and cream cheese filling between layers. Whata good cake he was!
3D Cakes are works of art and the scariest part of this art is the fact that they are created from SUGAR!
Let us know what you think! Join us on Facebook to keep updated sooner, OR email me and tell me to get off my hiney and update this blog! Keep me on my toes! *giggling*
Smile!- Iris

M1A1 Abrams Tank. 3D Military Cakes

YAY! What fun...we built a TANK! It always feels like when I think about wanting to tackle a new idea for a cake...we get a call in from an amazing customer and they ask for the exact idea I've been pondering over! YAY!! We built an M1A1 Abrams Tank for a wonderful client. She was wishing her husband and good friends a safe deployment to Iraq, by providing them with a cake of the very Tank they work with. I can't wait to hear the reactions! We really appreciate the support Our Soldiers bring to our country and the support of the families who stay behind praying for their safe return.
We love our Military Families

The Last Air Bender, The Avatar. 3D Cake

We had the chance to make a neat fun cake for a sweet family! Our customer wanted Aang, The Last Air Bender, The Avatar. We created his face and head. We found lots of cool pictures to gain inspiration from, but in the end, I really fell in love with the mood of Aang upset, getting ready to go into battle. Hopefully next time, we will create the entire body! If you have any questions, please leave a comment or E-mail Funky Monkey Cakes at iris@funkymonkeycakes.com

RV Cake, Old Woman Cake and TinkerBell Cake

Good Evening Folks!
We had 5 cakes this week. 1 Wedding Cake, 1 military hat cake, 1 tinkerbell cake, 1 RV Camper Cake and finally 1 3D Cake of a woman made to look waaay past her age. (giggling)
The "Over the Hill Cake" was fun because the customer wanted to make his wife laugh. I'm sure it will be a story for years to come...about the cake she got for her birthday. Here's a pic.
Now she didn't look like this. She is a young and beautiful woman...but her husband really wanted to prank her and make her laugh. We also created a fun RV Camper Cake.

I hand painted the stripes and logo on the cake! My favorite part is the hitch...I don't know why...but it just is. I wanna open the little door and peek inside..but all you'd find is Chocolate cake with Buttercream icing! YUMM! Then there is Ms. Tinkerbell and her friends.

Each little friend is hand created from sugar. They looked so cute on the cake. My favorite part of this cake is the green vines and ivy leaves. So so pretty. I airbrushed the cake in purple and blue to create the effect the customer wanted. I think she picked a beautiful combination of colors...don't you think? I would have posted the other cakes but one of them was a remake of another. Sometimes customers want a cake we've already created for someone else. So there is no need for me to duplicate the photo. All in all...we had one busy weekend. Time to Bar-B-Que tomorrow and enjoy the planned day of fun for the family.

Columbus Georgia Bridal Expo with Funky Monkey Cakes

Bridal Expo and Funky Monkey Cakes!

Good Evening Friends-
Boy o Boy my feet are killing me! (giggling)
Today we visited with some of the best Brides and Grooms out there!
Funky Monkey Cakes was able to share pictures and kind words with everyone who had a question or wanted to learn more about us! My favorite part of the day was seeing our guests reactions once they tried the minicupcakes. We wanted our guests to try Fondant. We normally get many questions about the taste of Fondant and today we brought it to them. We use Satin Ice Rolled Fondant. It is one of the best in America and tastes just so sweet and tender. http://www.satinfinefoods.com/testimonials.htm <--Please click on this link to learn from top bakers about the Satin Ice product that Funky Monkey Cakes uese in all our cakes) I was shocked to learn that some Brides have been told in the past that Fondant is not for consumption...only for the "look". WOW...No..that is not true guys. Fondant is more than just the "look"...it is delicious and adds a whole new spin on tasty treats. FMC will continue this in our shows...so our customers and guests will each have the opportunity to taste what Fondant is like and learn a little more. It's really a great medium and allows for beautiful stunning artwork to come forth in sugar. Thank you for stopping by our booth and visiting with us. We really enjoyed every smile and every hand shake. We look forward to serving you. If you have any quetions, please write or call us!
Warmest Wishes- Iris
